Essay --

Movies are a worldwide phenomenon, but why are some movies academy award winners while others plummet in the box office. I believe there are five major factors that go into creating a successful film beginning with the storyline, script, directing, sincere chemistry as well as realism. Script writing that is genuine and one an audience member can connect to is crucial; as is having a plot that doesn’t move so fast, and is able to seamlessly transition into different scenes. A great storyline always needs some sort of conflict in it; it is the heat of the drama. The obstacles they face in a movie is typically along the lines of someone wants something, someone/thing keeps getting in their way. For example in Dirty Dancing Baby wants to be with Johnny, but her father is standing in her way. A good hook is important to any storyline as well, you need something to grab the audience attention; all that is needed is a â€Å"What if?† Such as what if you are watching an entire series just to later find out it, it was all fake and none of what happened was real; a good enough â€Å"what if?† can set you apart from the pack. â€Å"You talkin’ to me? You talkin’ to me? You talkin’ to me?† Whether you’ve seen the movie or not this is a line we’ve all heard once or twice before. This quote can be heard being said from many generations. Good script writing is crucial it can either make or break a film. Some films that have had long- lasting success are movies such as Star Wars, The Godfather, and Forrest Gump. What these three films have in common is that they all have lines that are still being quoted till this day and will continue to be for years to come. This is all due to good script writing. The emotional connection that an audience feels has as... ...an believe,† (Molly, Haskell). If an audience member leaves a movie still thinking about it days later, and has connected with it on an emotional level as I stated before it will be successful. For example 12 Years a Slave won best picture at the Oscars this year, in 2013 the winner was Argo, looking back even further at previous winners you find that The King’s Speech, Hurt Locker, The Departed, Chicago and Schindler’s list are all previous best picture winners as well as many other films based on true stories. Even though fictional movies have won best picture as well the number of films based on real events outnumber the fictional ones. This year alone six out of the nine nominees for best picture were based on true stories. You find that people who are big fans of fictional movies such as Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, and X-Men are stuck in a fictional world.

The influence of Byzantine art

The influence of Byzantine art to subsequent art movements has only been recognized in recent years: nonetheless, this does not diminish its magnitude. Contemporary Byzantine iconographer Egon Sendler is a Roman Catholic priest and art professor who is credited as one of the main proponent and educator of contemporary Byzantine art that subscribe to the aesthetic and canonical rules of its traditional iconography (Atelier Saint Andre, 2005). Like com/art-appreciation-test-2/">the original Byzantine artworks, the predominant theme and subject or the art was religious in nature.Original Byzantine art was not limited to religious iconography but also sought to represent imperial themes since Byzantine fluence but there was also a significant influence and transfer of Eastern styles particularly in the use of colors, pigments and architecture featured in the art (Sendler, 1995). As seen in Sendler’s work titled Virgin Pokrov completed in 2000, the work is symbolical rather natural istic and was predominantly of traditional Orthodox icons and symbols (see Figure 1). Sendler’s work is not only visually faithful to original Byzantine art but follows preparation and materials used during the period.Since the period extends from the 4th to 15th centuries, there is a wide variety of styles, mediums and materials used. However, Sendler points out that Byzantine art traditions root in canons and iconography allows modern artists the facility to recreate the artistic tradition was also considered as the successor of the Great Roman Empire. Classical tradition as was a heavy inn today. Purpose and Hypotheses of the Study The purpose of the study by DeSimone Parmar (2006) was to scrutinize the beliefs and knowledge of general education teachers of mathematics at the middle school level concerning teaching learning disabled students in inclusive classes. The study explored the following four questions: 1. What are the generally held beliefs of general education teachers of mathematics in the middle school toward including learning disabled students in the general education classroom? 2. What knowledge base does the general education teachers of mathematics in the middle school have about the learning needs of learning disabled students who are in their class and their skill at adapting instruction? 3. Part III of the questionnaire had two parts and used a 4-point (very comfortable, quite comfortable, somewhat comfortable, not comfortable) Likert scale to determine the participants’ level of comfort to (a) accommodate or modify their mathematics instruction for students with different abilities (11 items), and (b) modify their instruction for students with different abilities in specific topics related to the mathematics curriculum used in the middle schools (17 items). After taking the questionnaire, the participants were asked if they would participate in a phone interview ((DeSimone Pamar, 2006).
